This may be a stupid question, but what does everyone do about their Facebook account during the application process? We all have those drunk pictures from college buried deep in our history or politically charged comments in regards to the "excellent" decision making ability of our current commander in chief, however, I wonder how deep large companies will look and what kind of access they have beyond what your privacy settings protect? You seem to see a lot of people changing their last name on Facebook these days in an apparent attempt to protect their privacy, but what are everyone's thoughts on here?

I don't put anything on facebook I wouldn't want my grandmother or kids or boss to see. Needless to say I don't post much. Too many people make bad decisions on social media.

Agreed, but I'm also not the same person I was in college 10 years ago. I would rather just deactivate my Facebook account or change my name before I tried to go back 10 years trying to rid my profile of whatever "fun" I got into in college.

Besides 10 years ago your Grandmother, boss, or kids wouldn't have been on Facebook anyways. That was a time when you were required to have a ".edu" email address and only college students were on it. None of us had any idea what Facebook would turn into nor did we really even care back then.

Not that I have anything on Facebook that I don't want anyone else to see, I still keep it completely locked down to 'friends only'.

So, other than people who have the same name as me, if I'm searched and they actually pick the correct link, they just get a generic icon and the usual message that if you want to see anything, send a friend request, or something like that...

I would wager to say most of us have our accounts setup that way as well, but you can't help, but wonder, do large companies that may pay a "premium" to Facebook have a less restricted access to accounts? I know that sounds like a very conspiracy theorist type of attitude, but you never know and with a job this important is it even worth the risk? Needless to say I just went ahead and deactivated my account for the time being.

I think most of us can agree college was a lot of fun for a lot of us who were also able to get the job done, but I'd rather not face the question in an interview as to why I took a shot out of a glass between some girls ....... that one time in college 10 years ago that your buddy decided to tag you on this new thing called Facebook.

Am I giving this too much thought? Probably, but when you're talking about an application process that has you reading your application 6900 times searching for even the smallest of errors I'd say it doesn't hurt to really think about what may be out there on the internet no matter how long ago that may be.

Worry less about social media and more about making your application perfect and getting the interview invite. We all made stupid mistakes when we were younger. I racked up a bunch of speeding tickets because I thought I was bulletproof and hadn't grown up yet. Luckily, most of us mature and Delta knows that. Own your mistakes from the past if asked about them, but worrying about FB posts from years ago is not using your time wisely IMO.

Now if you have recent posts or pics that you are concerned about, well, then you probably have bigger problems since that type of personality tends to leave data points (run ins with the law, long times completing education degrees, etc) that Delta will pick up on and likely ask about in the interview. Good luck and hope you get the invite soon.

7 day trips are only on the international fleets. There are also shorter, and longer, trips on those fleets. It would take several years to be able to hold a line on a fleet with 7 day trips. I can hold captain in many categories, and don't think I could hold a 7 on 7 off schedule as an FO on any fleet.

That said there are three and four day trips. If you were senior enough on a more junior fleet (88/90,717) you could put those together and build a 7 on 7 off schedule.

Why anyone these days above middle school would even have a narcissistic spybook account is questionable. At least anything beyond bare bones business formal, in which case you might as well just use linkedin anyway. No one cares what you had for lunch and posting your vacation plans online is just stupid. There's nothing professionally to be gained from "liking" either Roe or Wade, etc so why bother with it. If someone is really your friend you talk to them in real life anyway. I'll leave it to the petulent entitlement generation millennials that suffer from the need to have 1000 fake "friends" and live stream everything about everyone they know glued to their little screens all day.

Just erase your account. I have no idea what that entails but if you are struggling between $5 million+ career and Facebook your priorities aren't in the right place.

Delta probably doesn't care what stupid things you did in college but if they do it's an easy fix.
