After C2012, I was asking myself the question "If this is the best we can do, what do we need a union for?"

If the rumors are true, I'm asking myself that again. I'd rather trust the company's benevolence, than pay DALPA 1.95% of my pay to listen to their sales job every 3-4 years when I could have had the same or better pay and benefits without them. Let United and American lead the way. Tell Management if they keep our pay an average of UAL and AAL, I'll be happy to go non-union...assuming the rumors are true of course.

This is really starting to tick me off. Better step away from the keyboard.

As one of the 14, are you really an objective judge? why weren't you re-elected?

And it's laughable to think MEM would have voted in favor.

At one time, almost 50% of the pilots felt so strongly about this, they sent cards in for a different alternative.

I agree, if the union can't hit at least a triple with this environment, the people responsible should be embarrassed. History has proven many reps are not easily embarrassed.

This contract is going to be below industry standard in every area except pay rates.
I would love to see the details. Can you post a copy of the new contract?

Gotta agree with you here. This is all quite premature.

Two completely different things and you know it. Some reps loved it, some hated it, some felt like they were put in a no-win situation by the negotiators signing the TA without redirection...and reluctantly voted YES. Voting your conscience based on what gets put in front of you does not equate to process being properly followed.

Saddam Hussein won his last election 100% to 0%. In the world of shiznit, that's pretty indicative that process was followed.

More BS. You have no idea how that vote would have gone.

Why would they vote it down if they felt the result for their pilots would be worse given the awful position they'd been put in? The best indication of what the reps believed is the reps tossing the guilty within O'Malley's administration, and O'Malley being replaced. The best indication of one pilot base's judgment was tossing you from office and replacing you with a terrific young rep.

Cmon, 80. You've got tight connections within the MEC. You can see better than most how this is shaping up.

I do have some connections, and I'm not seeing this playing out in that manner yet. Everything that Jerry has yelled about has not come to fruition.

The big red flag on my horizon is the fact that harwood has inserted himself in the process again.

Other than that, I'm in wait and see mode given what I know.

I understand the "wait and see" but, current rumors of scope give backs both on the wide body side as well as small jet (76 seat continued proliferation), minuscule gains in pay, per diem, vacation and training, etc... Coupled w/ profit sharing reductions, do not bode well. Tag on LOE/TOE givebacks with additional acquiescence on the ever hard to define sick leave "issue" and it isn't adding up to a significant improvement / winning C15. It seems to me the indications are that "productivity enhancement" will surpass tangible net gains for the pilot group. Am I alone in this impression?
