3 months on the 200? Are you serious? That's wack. A year ago RSV was about 10-30 days in DTW.

When I got hired a year ago, it was looking like 30-60 days tops in Minni, then the NYC shift happened and I'm still on reserve. Holding out hope for the new base rumor to hold true and hoping it shakes things up in MSP and DTW. Considering moving if the new base is significantly more junior.

One thing you can bet on in this industry is that nothing is for sure. Things change so rapidly especially these days.

As a potential new hire with the time to upgrade, this statement is very worrisome. Is there a way to check your seniority list with hire dates so that I can guesstimate the number of folks hitting upgrade minimums in the coming months? The recruiters are still telling people 6 months if you have the time. Thanks in advance.

You've had an account on here for almost 3 years, and if you've been doing any reading in that time, you probably know that there is no way to tell you what will be going on in 6 months. Not trying to dissuade you in any way, just stating that this industry is very dynamic. And bear in mind that even though folks are getting hired and upgrading quickly, they will be passed by more senior FOs once said FOs are done sitting back and letting the upgrade pass them by for QoL. So a new hire today, upgrading quickly, can plan to sit on RSV for a long time. Which is cool, if one lives in base.

How many CA's are leaving in the next 12 mos plus 14 AC worth of CA's. There's your number of upgrades this year.
If you base your decisions on the pessimists you won't get out of bed in the morning.

I recall reading something like 300 upgrades in 2017. Anyone remember this? For what it is worth about 260 pilots hired in 2015 and about 40 have upgraded. You can do your statistics on those numbers but predicting who bypasses is a crap shoot. I know people hired in the summer of 15 are starting to hit 1000 hours and we have hired about 50/Month since then so we are getting close to having plenty of FOs that meet the requirement to upgrade. Also there are several hired in 16 that can upgrade but have not been awarded upgrade yet maybe due to wanting 900 or a certain base.

Assuming 3 months for training, here is the current status to wait for each base line holder and bottom guy. For seniority add 3 months:

DTW9: to hold - 3months, off reserve - 6 months
DTW2: to hold - 3 months, off reserve - 9 months

MSP9: to hold - 5 months, off reserve - 9 months
MSP2: to hold - 7 months, off reserve - 9 months

JFK9: to hold - instant, off reserve - 3 months
JFK2: to hold - instant, off reserve - 1 month

LGA9: to hold - instant, off reserve - 5 months
LGA2: to hold - instant, off reserve - 3 months

Again, this is all based for February. To find seniority month add 3 to each one.

Hope this helps!

January/February are low flight months. We also stopped adding 200's last summer. As we roll out of February and add 14 ore 200's this year I would expect RSV time to drop significantly on the 200 again. New guys keep jumping to the 900 since they assume they will fly more and get a little more pay and put themselves in a position that will keep them on that air frame Leaving the 200 very Jr. and soon in need of FO's. Good times to come for 200 pilots.
