The new CPA gives united control over pilot costs.

And given this Q3 earnings snippet here:

"UAL reported third-quarter net income of $637 million, diluted earnings per share of $2.12, pre-tax earnings of approximately $1.0 billion and pre-tax margin of 9.9 percent.
Excluding special charges, UAL reported third-quarter net income of $669 million, diluted earnings per share of $2.22, pre-tax earnings of $1.0 billion and pre-tax margin of 10.4 percent.
UAL repurchased $556 million of its common shares in the third quarter, bringing the year-to-date share repurchases to $1.3 billion.
UAL delivered the best-ever third-quarter consolidated on-time departures in the history of the company, and employees earned $11 million in bonuses for operational performance."

We should be burning this place down. They have the money to pay.

I don’t think UAL can afford to Comair XJT right now. This is not 2012. They need the feed and right now all the pilots are going to their competitors- Envoy and Endeavor. Inc can’t do all the UAL flying while also servicing their other contracts. Like it or not you can’t fill larger airplanes without smaller airplanes doing the feed from the thinner markets. When the 145s start getting parked because there are no pilots willing to fly for UAL feeders it will hurt the bottom line and if they have have a brain UAL management knows this.
But we shall see. If there is no good news by January, and I mean real good news not “we are getting rid of the -200’s to concentrate on dual class flying” good news, there won’t be enough warm bodies to finish the DAL contract.

Well it only took UAL from then till recently to figure that out.

Because up until the annoucement in August/Sept, that’s pretty much what they were doing to the ERJ side of XJT.

To the tune of about 5 planes month and NO PLAN for the ERJ’s after 2018.

Yeah, it is the same airline that said they could afford to lose money on domestic routes as they were making a killing on 747’s. Same plan Pan Am had and worked out as well when international flying plummeted between 9/11 and SARS. Empty 747s are expensive.

Well, their previous scheme to transfer flying to the cheapest bottom feeder possible has kept them flying for now. It's painfully obvious they don't give two rips about a quality operator as long as they get the flying done for Mesa prices.

I think this is precisely what will happen. While Brad Holt told us that pilots aren't as smart as they think they are, we're also not blind either. By my estimates, the DAL operation will implode by summer, and without any REAL growth, the ERJ will follow suit possibly by early 2019. It's gonna take more than $10k and a junk CPP to keep most of us dumb pilots around.

Yeah $10k paid out in 13 months. Ridiculous. Looks like we have ONE new hire for the 12/4 class. Full steam ahead.
