I was junior Left seat. I really did enjoy it here and I think in the end I would have been happy but it was a “what’s best if the family” decision. I’ll be based at home on the west coast. Other then that I was starting to struggle how the company squeezed its pennies. No catering, potable water is ok to drink and then lately the sick call memos/section 19’s and closing ORD which seems to be nothing more then vindictive. I’m probably leaving one devil for the other but at least I’m going in with eyes wide open.
What I’m going to miss are the crews. There is no denying that this pilot group was one of the best groups I have ever flown with. Management though… Ugh….

Apparently they cancelled the JAN 10 class. I'm not sure how true that is. Jan 3 class was 22, and ours JAN 31 has 10. I heard the next class is Feb 28th. I'll see if I can find out anymore details.

In any case, welcome! I’ve ridden in many other airline jumpseats in my years and I can honestly say that, cockpit door closed to cockpit door open, you won’t find a better working environment and coworkers. Opening the cockpit door is occasionally like opening the door to hell, but embrace whatcha can when ya can!

So there were supposed to be 3 classes in January? That’s a first.

That aside, you’re right. It was wrong. Short lived, but wrong. Like I said, I was directly impacted and I’m the guy that copes with a dark sense of humor (comes from an old career field). If my attempt at a bad joke directly impacted you I do sincerely apologize.

I’ve never worked at a large company able to react to events that quickly. The base closure had to have been worked on for months.
This sounds like tinfoil hat wearing pilot versus management conspiracy theory.

I mean…really? I don’t have a dog in this hunt, but I’m skeptical that the management of a however many billion dollar operation would knee-jerk close a base to “teach those pilots a lesson.”
