I think the fascination is that it would instantly create a larger company, better suited to compete with the big boys. It just doesn't seem necessary RIGHT now. Both companies are growing and doing well on there own.

I think the biggest benefit of merging the two would be to become too large of a target for WN to acquire or merge. I would rather do gay porn than work for Southwest and hope to some higher power we can keep that from happening.

Ask the AirTran pilots that were bumped back to the right seat and forced to commute to one of those west coast bases what they think about the merger with Southwest.
Plus the 737 sucks office wise, compared to the Airbus.
