We, Frontier, only had 630 some pilots in Oct 2013 and now we have 1000. A rumor is 250-300 newhires this year alone. (I find this one hard to believe). But it will be at least close to 200. And we are going to grow like this for several more years. So our relative seniority is going to change drastically. A snapshot now is pretty worthless.
I doubt if we will merge anytime soon or if at all. But if we do we'd be at least around 1400 pilots when it happens with the middle hired in April 2014.

I would agree and I don't mean to jump the gun. I haven't spoken with one person on our property that doesn't respect and hope for the best for the F9 guys and gals. I personally think the important piece of the puzzle is independent contracts for both groups. Believe me if we are dealing with NK management we will all be waiting decades before a JCBA comes to fruition. Good look to you guys in your negotiations/ALPA drive/whatever road you should take. It appears were both gonna need it.

What is with this fascination of merging F9 and NK??? Past mergers usually result in a segment of the pilot group getting screwed. Correct me if I'm wrong but I see no benefit of a merger with NK. Sure, we operate the same equipment and have similar business models but F9 has the momentum/growth/stability and I would also argue we have better long term prospects for our pilots vs. Spirit's recent turmoil/lackluster performance/dismal ratings/instability.

No fascination. I agree, it would be bad. I don't think anyone on here is wishing for it. But it doesn't hurt to discuss it hypothetically. Because lets face it, things like this can happen suddenly. It's nice to have some thoughts about how things might go, that's all.

I'm sorry, what?, lol. Am I reading this correctly?, you are saying F9 is a better run/more profitable company and has a more stable future?

slow down, you guys are where we were years ago. Nobody knows exactly what your costs & profit is because you are a private company. I'd wait before you declare F9 as a "better" airline in the future

Kinda like arguing over who's got the best double-wide as far as I'm concerned.

(For those of you who might be unfamiliar with the term, "double-wide" is a version of a mobile home (trailer) where two individual trailers are parked side by side and joined down the middle to form a bigger home.)

LOL. That's funny stuff right there! No need to start a whose better than whom F9/NK argument. I think the fascination is that it would instantly create a larger company, better suited to compete with the big boys. It just doesn't seem necessary RIGHT now. Both companies are growing and doing well on their own.

Well said and let's both get respectable contracts so when the time comes a JCBA can be built off something much better than what we both currently have

I think the biggest benefit of merging the two would be to become too large of a target for WN to acquire or merge. I would rather do gay porn than work for Southwest and hope to some higher power we can keep that from happening.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
