On another note: What caused the spike in open time in IAH as of today? On the Captain side, there are about 150 credit hours up for grabs.
There were probably over 250 hours of open time combined today only.
As of yesterday morning, there were 2 trips totaling 4 credit hours.
For the past months, there was barely anything to be picked up.

$300 can be a game changer for those making less. Just thing about the FOs who only take home $2k per month. A decent apartment in just about every city is over $1k per month, tack on utilities and insurance and someone is at at least $1250 per month, throw in a car payment and insurance and they are now at $1600, assume all food is purchased and packed(no Uber eats) and that’s at least another $250-300. So now we are at $1900. Assume they put their entire bonus towards student loans they will will still have at least $100 per month. Now they have no room for a $300 cut. Depending on state with the current $200 extra one will qualify for between 4-600 per week on unemployment, they will make just as much on unemployment without having to pay for crash pads while sitting on reserve.
You need to quantify the unemployment. Unemployment from the state is a percentage of historical wages earned. Are you saying this less than 100% is going to exceed your FO pay? Benefits? Insurance (COBRA anyone?) Even with TEMPORARY federal support I doubt it's more money that with the MOU. IF you get to find out let us know. IF the government goes back to 600 a week extra unemployment then they likely do a PSP/CARES 2.0 and it's a moot point anyway.

I'm pretty serious of what I'm writing.
Los Angeles Times:
United Airlines Holdings Inc. said Tuesday that it lost $1.63 billion in the second quarter as revenue plunged 87%, and it will operate at barely over one-third of capacity through September as the COVID-19 pandemic throttles air travel.
The Chicago airline burned through $40 million a day in the April-through-June quarter but said it will trim losses to $25 million a day in the current quarter by slashing costs.
... ... ...
There are about 250 pilots on reserve this month. If flying remains constant, I expect to see 250 pilots on reserve. That also depends of the min hours required for a line. If that goes up, more reserves.
My guess is that J.O. will furlough at some time. As MANY as needed, by also NOT to cross train pilots. The right balance will be the number.
To furlough 490 pilots, things have to get much worse. My guess is that a single CRJ-Ejet cross training event costs 30 to 50'000 dollars (2 to 3 month salary, hotel per diem, simulator, etc.).
Our mainline partners won't subsidize a single penny for that.
I'm sure J.O. doesn't want to pay for that.
Heck, we will pay some of those training costs indirectly when furloughs start in January of 2021.
With the 8 hours credit reduction over 3 month.
VOTE NO!!!

I'd be sick if I was going through what those pilots are going through, too.

Here’s why the numbers don’t make sense. Market share.
JO is definitely betting one or two more companies go down. He wants to have pilots available immediately to be able to pick up a contract for long term flying. If he gets the place to pre covid reserve numbers he won’t be able to do that. This is where the new Mesa financed ejets come in, or our 700s that are owned outright. I don’t know the status of the new ejets, and it will be interesting to see what goes down the next few
I’m on the chopping block, I’d rather get chopped than sit reserve for the next six months.
