Mesa issues warn notice to pilots

It means little. Our MEC volunteers represent us. It’s a mixed bag. Few want to volunteer. Regardless of opinion here on what should be done our MEC is listening and trying to do their best to mitigate furloughs. The company isn’t stone walling but it is a negotiation. Let them negotiate. Don’t like the result? Run for office and vote out the ones who burned you.

I am sympathetic for them as well, I certainly don’t want to see any furloughs. Maybe if we made more (Or our insurance was cheaper) I would be in a better position be feel more generous, but as it is I am very likely to be downgraded. Going back to FO pay at a reduced guarantee while I’m pay $628/month for insurance Is going to be a major problem. It’s a big deal for me.
In the end, we are all going to be screwed to some degree.
This virus and the resulting fall out will last well into next year. The “temporary” guarantee is not going to end at the end of the year, I promise they will be looking for another extension and maybe more by then. Regardless of what we give back we will see furloughs and downgrades.
In the end, we are all going to be screwed to some degree.

ALPA, on a national level, might push agenda towards DC that benefits legacies more. But as a Union, your MEC is doing whatever they can to protect YOUR pilots. There is no conflict of interest there.

Thats what I mean. Your MEC has no conflict of interest because "ALPA represents mainline as well".

The less they pay you, the more they can demand from the legacy employer.

Talking points of conference call
- "High probability" Dulles will become E175 base
-CRJ 700's will remain with Mesa but remained parked
-No agreements yet for more cargo 737's or pilots; but is "hopeful" and there is opportunity for more; will take time
-Doesn't know if EJet seating will be reduced
-Doesn't know when CA upgrades will begin again but believes YV fleet will grow in 2021 due to our CRJ 700's
-Are AA wholy-owns taking our flying? Not yet
-AA contract has not been extended yet but confident AA wants us to stay in family due to "our low cost structure"
-Spacejet delayed by manufacturer until "distant future"
-No plans to retire the CRJ 900
-Exploring possibilities for CRJ 200's and large turboprops for cargo
-Our flying is down 50%; business travel is down 88%
-72 Covid19 cases at Mesa; 8 currently; one fatality
-Goal is to avoid furloughs; FA's won't be furloughed ( 500 have taken VLOA); 150 pilots have taken VLOA; allegedly, ALPA has proposed some kind of multi-tiered reduction in hours plan where guys in middle get reduced guarantee and bottom seniority pilots get even less guarantee; this will "probably" negate the need for CA downgrades; any pilot who leaves still has to pay bonus back
-AA future- flying will wind down for 2021-2022 but extension is expected due to "our low cost structure"
-UA future- Good future. Kirby and JO are pals. 550 plan could happen with our 20 CRJ700's. And UA loves us because of our...."low cost structure"
-Possible agreements by end of 2021 with other carriers
-Cargo operations start in 2 weeks
- That day we had 40 cancellations due to computer failure was due to AT&T and we're changing carriers
-Remembrance for Andy Hughes, the former MEC for OUR union, who was another great friend of JO for 20 years....
