Non rev D1/D2. Same as mainline. Based on check in time.

Jumpseat. Mainline has priority on their metal obviously. Then it's us, envoy and pdt that based on check in time.

PSA has the same boarding priority as the other wholly owned on mainline aircraft (Envoy/Piedmont/Envoy).
Thank ye both!

And all the other travel eligible employees at the associated airlines, and mainline. in total, probably over 130,000 employees in the D2 priority, plus their eligible travelers.(Spouse, kids)

Yup. Sure is. Exactly the same as the other wholly owned carriers. Piedmont/PSA/Envoy all have the same priority on AA flights.

But that is still better than a non-WO airline on AA.

How does it shake out for a PSA pilot and family to travel using those benefits? I realize it will not be a for sure spot, but is it fairly common to get bumped off the flights?

Also, is it true you still have to pay the fees on the flights for your family?

Wife and kids free. Parents have a cost. Flights run full! Always travel early best bet. If you get bumped your priority will roll over to next flight. Also if you are a through flight you get higher priority in the hub. Also consider traveling on less busy days. It's a crap shoot sometimes. You do get annual vacation pass which gives you a higher priority.

I've only had trouble commuting once in the past year. It really isn't as bad as many have made it out to be. It sucks sometimes to end your trip with a 5 leg day and have to run across the airport to catch the last flight home... But as long as I get home I don't care. I've never had to come in the night before, although I think I may have one trip later this month that I may have to.

As far as traveling for vacation, it's not too bad either. As other have said, be smart about when you go. Avoid weekends if possible, and try and travel during "off seasons". Avoid summers and the holidays. Spring before school gets out and fall after school starts seem to be the best times.

Uh, you better be ready to split up and hope that some AA guy doesn't was the jump seat. Adding more then just you starts over complicating things. Pay for Upgrade seating on D2 and not sure how the kids get priced.

Oh ok, so lets say you get bumped, on the next flight your time of check it for the previous flight holds your spot on that flight?

Also, do I understand that when you mark yourself on vacation, your a higher level of priority?

You jump ahead of everyone in your boarding class on the next flight.

Vacation passes are a highest priority. You get 6 a year. Unless that's changed.
