There will be downgrades long before there are DEC's again.

The only thing that is helping things right now at PSA is LCA's flying as FO's. There are too many captains, and not enough FO's. FO attrition is greater than captain attrition. Look for sim instructors to be pulled out onto the line and the DEC's to be sent back to the right seat before July.

A sim instructor from my Sept 14 class is already out on the line. Another sim instructor I know from college just got checked out on the line. She's been here a little while but it suddenly became a company priority to get her checked out. Hhhhhmmmm?

My question is what happens when they push her to the line to fly as a CA? She upgraded as part of her sim job but if that goes away, didn't they basically upgrade her out of order and without an upgrade bid?

The 20K retention bonus was for pilots already on property at the time. A new hire would've only been eligible for the new hire bonus only.

Although I have no specific knowledge on this topic, I'd be willing to bet that those F.O's who are leaving are going to other regional airlines that offer higher pay for their F.O.'s *AND* Captains.

Places like Air Wisconsin, Compass, Endeavor, GoJet, Horizon, Republic, SkyWest, or TransStates. They ALL offer better pay and benefits for First Officers and Captains,....... without gimmicky bonus schemes,...... that can be taken away any time management wants to take them away!

No. Not really.

Most of the FOs hired there in the past 18 months have 8-10 years in the industry. They are going to JetBlue, Southwest (military guys mostly), Atlas, Spirit, Kalitta, and a few others. A few got picked up by majors out of the right seat as well. I know of a couple guys that went to the FAA, and some went to the part 91 world. I have seen new hires on the PSA lists with over 15,000 hours and a clean record. Those guys are not sticking around very long at all.

I have only heard of a couple of lateral transfers. Those were usually special circumstances.

Anybody find it ironic that

A) yay..,profit sharing program.

B) Airlines earnings forecast downgrade for 2016 a week later?

PSA FO's can expect $100 if their lucky. I know, Douggie doesn't like profit sharing because of his high pay rates. Just more horse5hit beating around the bush. PSA doesn't deserve any new hires.

A DEC can not be sent to the right seat, Even if there are downgrades. They were hired as Captains . It doesn't follow seniority order .

Um, disagree. It does follow seniority order.

Either way, this won't happen. Hiring is slowly turning around and the company will continue to do what they need to (albeit reactively) to staff. News is coming down the pipeline soon...keep your ears open.

. It was made very clear in the interviews you couldn't be knocked down back to FO . I wouldn't classify 10 pilots in one class as "hiring turning around either"
