The letter about the bonus from the union is out.

I would like to say that I think it is a very well worded letter that addresses many of our concerns.

That being said I would judge the general tone of the email to be one of resignation and exasperation. It is very clear from this email that the company has no intention of improving anything of substance at PSA. Whether this lack of improvement is the decision of PSA management or as a result of being hamstrung by AAG management is irrelevant. The email implies to me that if there were any of us here at PSA that were still holding on to the small shred of hope that someday things might get better, then we should let go of that hope and accept things as they are. We now have 2 choices; resignation From the company or resignation to our fate. Good luck to all.

The bottom line is this: in the last two years the economic justification for a first year pay in the FFD segment of $25 has evaporated. We're now seeing a movement towards compensation that's the equivalent of $40+ per hour.

There is no escaping, denying, nor sidestepping this new reality. There's no going back to the past when pilots were a dime a dozen and would show up for whatever compensation you decided to offer.

The longer AAG tries to hold it's WO'd carriers to the economic realities of yesterday, the longer those carriers will continue to suffer for lack of pilots. New hires will simply not show up and stick around, as the data in TR's letter has evidenced.

In the long term, they'll probably figure it out, but only inch by inch. As the market continues to change there will be some advantage to being WO, but for now that advantage is out in the future and not today.

From my perspective, it's gonna be a long, hot summer of two engine taxi and extensive a.p.u. burns. If the don't value me, I have no reason to value them.

I got hired in January, and a guy from my class is already Rd1 in Dayton. With one more Rd2. A couple are slated to goto CLT, just hasnt taken effect yet. Depending on the growth, you will likely be able to hold anything but CLT right out of training, with CLT following in a few months. What the line holding situation will look like then is anyones guess. No one can predict that. But essentially, its right about 6 months from date of hire to hold a line.. at least in Dayton.

I agree with you that it is well written, but have to disagree that we should let go of all hope just yet. I am not one to be pro-union, but I have to say that so far TR has maintained my respect as MEC. Although I wasn't thrilled about his retention bonus announcement, I believe the guy has a plan and is definitely putting up a fight for all of us here. I am not going to say that I am overly optimistic that anything will come of it, but will say that I am slightly hopeful that there is still a chance we will see improvement one way or another. Maybe nothing will happen, but at least I feel like we have the right guy in there for once... We shall see

Because it needs to be reiterated. A newhire will make over $5200 LESS on second year pay at min guarantee.

I think TR will continue to fight as well. I just don't think it will amount to anything.

Being hopeful and optimistic at PSA is a waste of time. You're not even chasing a carrot on a stick anymore. You're chasing a string in the hope that someday there might be a carrot that you could optimistically get a taste of.

Even the stupid donkey will stop following the carrot if he doesn't get to eat it once in a while.
