Yeah that's not true. You get two weeks after your anniversary date. Doesn't matter if you start before the end of the year
A word of advice.
Try to get in class before January 1st. If you are in class during the holidays, you will get a few days off for Thanksgiving and Christmas. By next year at this time, you will be a line holder and will be able to SAP those days off. So, you will never have to work those holidays at PSA (unless you bid upgrade early and may be on Captain reserve).
Second, if you start class in 2016, you will get 2 weeks of vacation in 2017. Even if your class date is December 19th, you will get 2 weeks of vacation to use in 2017. That is a great benefit.

Nope.
If you start in November or December 2016, then you are allowed to bid 2 weeks vacation for 2017. Since your anniversary date falls in 2017, you get 2 weeks. If you leave before your anniversary date, then you have to pay it back, but you still get 2 weeks vacation.

I was hired in the last couple months of 2014, and I had two weeks of vacation during the summer of 2015. I was there less than 6 months when I took my first vacation, and about 9 months when I took my second.

Lets say that you get hired Nov 10, 2016.
When you get out of IOE, you will be able to bid for vacations. You will get to bid for 2 weeks in 2017, since your anniversary date falls in 2017. If you want to take both in July or August (and they are available) you can.
If you quit before your anniversary date of Nov 10, 2017, then you will have to pay back the one extra week of vacation that you took and had not earned to that point. But, if you stay employed or leave after Nov 10th, then you don't.

So, after the last union email I am assuming they are considering presenting us an offer that would put PBS in place here...
Anyone have experience with this?
Good?
Bad?
Everything I have read about it indicates that it is concessionary as far as QOL goes for the majority of line holders.
What should we bargain for in return?
or should we tell them to go away with this nonsense?

I don't really care how the lines are built, as long as I can still SAP and get the schedule that I want. If they give me an efficient schedule initially, with all of the days off that I want, then I won't need to even bother SAPping. But if the PBS gives me a bad schedule, then I want to be able to SAP and fix it.
If I get what I want, I don't care if it came from SAP/Line bidding or PBS. But PBS alone is not a good solution. A small percentage get what they want, and everyone else gets what is left over. But we all want different things, and that is why SAP works. I like working weekends, and like certain overnights. Other people hate working weekends and dislike the overnights that I like. I drop my trip into open time, and someone else picks it up.
If they want PBS, then give us an average day credit of 4.75hrs (no 4 day trips with a credit less than 19 hours), let us still SAP exactly as we do now, and increase the flow.
The SAP is the best quality of life tool in the regionals. For the last 3 months, I ended up dropping every single trip that I was awarded and picked up new ones. Every single one. I got the days off that I want, no 4 day trip worth less than 20 hours, and overnights that I want. I even have a 19 hour overnight starting at 1pm on a Saturday in November and bought tickets to go and see a college football game of a school that I have always wanted to see. I also have 2 long overnights with the hotel on the beach in Florida - so I can get some sun and warmth. That is the benefit of the SAP. I am not willing to give that up.

The company isn't going to agree to pbs with a sap period (aka left over trips) and then another round of pbs, the whole point of pbs is a one time solution that avoids month to month conflicts and really only benefits the top 25%. You said it yourself, sap is the best qol tool in the entire industry. Nobody else has schedule flexibility that rd 1 line holders at PSA have and giving that up would require a pay increase, flow of at least 15/month, and very strong pbs language that the company wouldn't agree to so let's not even waste our NC's time with this. Our contract is good through 2023 and ccp will be back soon once the arbitrator finally does his job so let the company deal with what they agreed to for the next 7 plus years.
It is not how any current PBS are designed, but we could be the first to create something new.

They "COULD" build round 1 lines with PBS, and have leftovers for SAP and round 2. Just because it has not been done that way at other airlines doesn't mean that it can't be done.
