If you can get a better gig, take it. Some people aren't getting called back by SKW, XJT, let alone the majors and after 5 or so years, 135 or instructing will burn you out. So what't the solution? Those in that scenario can either stay where they are or get on with the only one who calls them back. Just sayin'.

Just the other day I had a new guy in my jump seat complaining about the company, and I asked him if he had looked at the union website and he said yes. So I then asked him if this place was as bad as advertised, he said yes again. So what makes you think that your experience is going to be any different coryk? I was on reserve for 2 years, fly the 170 in base, I have weekends off and life is great. BUT the ONLY leverage we have on this management is helping educate the public on why not to come here right now. It's a union thing...something a young CFI would not get because you have probably never been part of one...or you might get it.

I want a new contract, I want to be paid fairly, so if educating people and telling them to go to other airlines that are hiring makes me bitter or have a bad attitude, then so be it. But if you decide to make the ignorant decision to come here, then don't complain later. You have been warned. Once we get a fair and deserving contract, I will have no problem with people coming here. So I hope I have made my point clear. If it makes me seem like a jerk, sorry, but I would like to make a fair wage for the people that I haul around the country. I came here before things got ugly, and I am trying to help make it better. I can't just pack up and leave, it is NOT that easy. We are paying our dues, YES, but if I am going to pay, then the company has to pay just as much. And they are NOT. They know it, and we know it. It is airline politics and labor problems.

So to summarize...THIS MANAGEMENT WILL NOT GIVE US A FAIR CONTRACT UNTIL THEY CAN NOT RECRUIT PILOTS. Until then, the beatings will continue, the union busting will continue, my junk wages will continue. I don't HATE my job, I HATE this 10 year old, outdated contract. Everyone has gotten new contracts (good and bad) in the past few years, it is our turn now!

You dont want people to go to Republic, but you are staying around filling a seat. You're saying if people keep coming to Republic you wont get a contract. But yet by you staying and working, you are accepting the current pay rates and contract. So if you are so mighty with the words you use, how about you just quit and that will show management that you are worth more then the contract!
Gee, good advice genius. You ever think that maybe he needs a job to support his family? Most of us are actively looking for new jobs and can't quit until a new one is found. Think first before you type.

I was there for 18 months when I realized that the union is doing nothing because the senior captains are fat and happy. Why should the company do anything when they have a 99.7% on time rate from a very obedient pilot (captain) group. Bedford looks like a genius and has no incentive until the pilot group reacts. Instead of telling people not to come here (which never works), talk to your own pilot group-They have more power than they think. Good luck to all at RAH-great employees.

It depends on where you currently are. If you're a CFI or 135 maybe. If you're at a regional or national looking to move up, not so sure about that. There are even some high time 135 guys who are having a hard time getting a call back.

Bozo, are they giving you any threats for breaking the 2 year contract in place at Republic?

You really think our 5+ year FO's or CA's want to go fly 135 as an FO? I'm actively looking and I won't move laterally. Certainly wouldn't move for that and can't commute without flight bennies.

CAs are too good to be a 135 FO? Should never be too good for a position that can support family.
