South Jersey? 320 gives you the option of flying out of PHL. 737 doesn’t. The plot thickens...

Quote: Official word is 6 leave in 1Q 2020, Remaining 14 remain until 4Q.

Rumor mill over replacement has dried up lately.

The sim is going to get the stall software upgrade in March which will mean one sim session per day is lost for several weeks. That will drive some slowdown in training over the winter, since a lot of available time will be needed for recurrent. Other than that training right now is at the same pace it has been and a lot of people who have been withheld are leaving for other equipment. I've had quite a few folks in recurrent lately who will be gone from the fleet within a few months.
Embraer has a 190 E-2 parked on display in DFW today. Let the rumor mill continue to churn.

I understand yesterday it was photographed at Boeing Field. Someone at the Museum of Flight saw it and posted on Facebook.

More rumors.

The E2 would make a whole lot of sense- once Piedmont & Envoy merge within the next 5 years, regardless of whether the new entity remains an "independent" WO or is stapled to AA as a B scale- the transition from the 140/145 or 175 would be easier for the upgrading pilot group as opposed to the 319/320 or A220...

Haha. Let the kid dream. All the American Eaglettes used to say that over 20 years ago. Some are still there waiting to be “stapled”.

Is AA still on track to hire the planned amount of pilots for this year?

Yes. Latest information here (pretty authoritative) is 40 a class then ramp up to 50 towards the end. (Remember only 1 class in Dec due to the holidays, which is normal.)

If 40 continues, hires will be in 880 - 890 range.

Early in the year (and still listed here on APC) was a forecast of 900. (This was much debated, I still have scars to prove it!)

Recently, people have said the forecast is 930.

If the last few classes increase to 50 a class, the answer to your question is, “Yes, pretty much spot on.”

For reference, 2017 had 645 hires.
