Quote: Just like Subodh has no chance of being a successful CEO. He's an unprofessional hack. Time for him to just leave if he doesn't like it here.

Bye.
Subodh is a puppet. You are not negotiating with Subodh. You are negotiating with United. They are the ones who want the elder statesmen gone.

The emails. They are unprofessional. The opposite of professional. As in they are an overt attempt to keep out new hires. As I have stated I believe the only chance we have at increased QOL or even survival is to do all we can to bring new hires IN. The Union’s belief that if we stop bringing in new hires the company will be willing to negotiate could not be further from the truth. This only incentivizes United to cut XJT loose.

Nope. They only call out Subodh for being unprofessional and lying to the pilot group. They speak the truth to the QOL on the line and the underhanded tactics management is willing to go to in order to shirk their responsibilities with Letter 2.

Subodh is just unhappy he is unable to play his little games as he has at all the other little ratthole carriers he's worked at before. He's truly a hack.

I don't think the union's going to have to do anything to stop new hires from coming in.

We are probably still at a net loss for the year. And you don't traditionally make up as much training backlog during the holidays.

As I hear it, the hiring sort of peaked with the 175 announcement but has gone back down because guess what: the information about this place is out there.

The simple fact is that this place is chaos, and there are better places to work.

Do this for me: name a regional that is hiring all the pilots they need that doesn't have a flow to a major carrier.

Maybe Skywest, but I don't think that will last.

Heck, even places with flows to LCCs aren't getting enough applicants.

Quote: Ringing endorsement that no one seems to understand that new hires are your only chance of actually improving QOL.

Airline shrinks, QOL goes down, Airline grows, QOL goes up. I don't understand why this simple concept escapes so many. You and I both know this pilot group has no shot of negotiating QOL. None.
Go ahead and shut it down. The other United Express carriers are dumpster fires also. The regional whipsaw game is over. The market has changed.

Pay us better or shut it down. We have lots of options now.

Quote: Envoy doesn’t have a group of lifers like XJT. This pilot group is an accountant’s worst nightmare.
Accountant’s don’t fly airplanes. The numbers have changed. Time to pay up.

Quote: So even with all of this turnover that so deeply concerns you there will be no opportunity for TPIC here for the next 14 years or whatever. I see the logic. Makes sense.

My number one concern going forward is the likelihood that United would just as soon bury XJT than engage in negotiations with such an unprofessional bunch of sissies. You do realize that a group of 20+ year regional pilots offers absolutely no value to the parent company. You folks are all gonna negotiate yourselves right out of a job!

At this point it makes more sense to just open an IAH and ORD base for Commutair and just dissolve XJT. Oh wait, what are those Commutair rumors?!

Everyone seems so certain I’m management so I guess you heard it hear first! Union spreads “truth” about XJT, XJT can’t meet hiring goals, XJT dissolves! Congrats oh fearless Union leaders!!

If you really want to keep people from coming here, I’ve got a better narrative for you: “Don’t come to XJT, when the next recession hits we are sure to be the first to go because we have such a top heavy pilot group weighing us down! And they want a friggin raise!”

First rule of negotiation, know your own value. XJT Union’s perception of the value of its own pilot group is VASTLY overinflated.
I used to think you were a pretty reasonable guy, but if you don’t think the pilots at xjt deserve a raise, then whatever your agenda is has certainly blinded you.

If you want a bunch of guys on the list behind you, any improvements xjt makes go towards fulfilling that goal

I think the pilots deserve a raise. I just think the way they are going about it is all wrong. I’m trying to play devil’s advocate. What I don’t believe is that we are in any position to play hard ball.

The only real advantage we have is that United can’t afford to have a substantial number of its regional pilots scattered out among other carriers.

At the end of the day United is probably about to give us a new carrot. Our contract will not improve substantially any time soon. There may be some minor changes.

Maybe we should start a poll. If there were one thing about the contract you would change, what would it be?

90% would want another $500 per month. Proving they don’t care about their QOL one bit. It’s the old saying, money doesn’t buy happiness.

And that’s probably about what we will get. Then next summer when we are yet again under staffed this cycle repeats itself. You can’t really make a miserable being happy. You feed it, throw it a bone now and then, but it’s always going to growl at the neighbors.

I was previously with the DL side of the XJT operation and I am very glad I am not in your sheet show now. For a bit things kinda sorta looked better for the friends I left behind.

Then Subodh. Wow.

Subodh was the worst news in the world. His involvement in the operation speaks volumes about the future of XJT.

I really can't blame the union for their tactics and tenor. There really is nothing to lose.
