Looking for some clarification if anyone knows. The email I received from Southwest recruiting regarding the new FO opening states "First Officer job posting (#36838)." When I searched the careers site it listed an FO opening for #36839. Is the email listing number a typo, or do they have more than one new job posting? I know in the past they have opened separate listings for certain groups of people like hiring fair attendees, etc.

UPDATE: I received verification the listing number from the email is either a typo or the number was subsequently changed. There is only one FO opening for applications available.

If you have a virtual currently scheduled, should one still apply to the current window "just in case" or is that something not to do?

I'd assume if the computer didn't like my app, it would've tossed the October window application as well.

No one can say with 100% certainty, but it sounds like to me there is something in your application that is precluding selection by the computer. Have you done a prep service/app review?

My previous 2 apps still say Received Submission. Threw my hat in the ring for this new one too. Good luck everyone.

Virtually guaranteed to happen when the company slings a(nother) mediocre offer at us: “When UAL was putting guys on unpaid leave and DAL was punishing pilots with hundreds of dollars per month in insurance premiums, SWA stood by its employees, refused to be bullied by the overreaching federal government, and blanket-approved all of the accommodation requests. Ya, sure, SWA sent furlough notices, but they didn’t furlough. And when it can time to really stand for our rights and freedoms, SWA was there for me. I’m voting yes.”

Don’t think that the above wasn’t a motivation behind why SWA did what it did. The company is always playing “4D chess,” and almost always one step ahead in the labor relations department. Blanket approving all of the accommodation requests, especially during Section 6 negotiations, is a free way for the company to acquire major negotiating capital. They know our pilot group better than we know ourselves.

What are some of the main differences between Southwest’s non-AQP training and other airlines’ AQP training?

Not that it mattes, but I think that Southwest pairs new hire on new hire, and Captain on Captain, rather than new hire on Captain. Other than that it's basically FAA boilerplate AQP.

We did spend many years reinventing ETOPS however...

so the new hire has to know both sides of the cockpit duties, right?
