2 part question.

1- Can someone explain how the SC times are assigned? I have in my time slots (if needed); 1600, 1400, 1200 and 1000. Not sure if I need to do them in that order, or need to put all 4 but I have been and it's been working. Time slots changed drastically this month, I guess they got sick of doing GS for all the 600 trips. Slots now seem to be 2359, 200, 600, 800, and 1000. Then a mix of additional random times like 700, or 830, etc. There is nothing after 1000 anymore. Tomorrow I got 600. But someone 2,000 junior to me got 1000. We both have 3 days, we are both in group 1, his Raw # is 33, and I'm 29. So what is the order SC is given out?

2- How do we bid for the SC days/slots ahead of time? Because if this has gone to ****, and having your preferences doesn't matter, I'm going to start bidding for SC days.

That person probably yellow slipped to be first for short call and put 1000. I believe the yellow slips are processed first, then if needed.

From what I understand, if needed slips aren’t even taken into consideration.

Yeah, and it's total BS. And completely contrary to the SRH, which is binding.

It's a small violation, but still. Add it to the list.

I only use If Needed for SC and it’s awarded every time.

That is not my experience. I’m usually 6 out of 6 for bidding an “if needed” and getting the time I request. The only time it didn’t happen was recently, when they got rid of my favorite time slot.

If you display short call assignment history it'll display a yellow slipped time as "AWD" and the if needed as "ASSN".

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Schedules -> Open Time -> Display Short Call Assignment History

if use if needed for SC time and they give the slot you want to someone junior you can get 1 hour of pay if you do an STS.
