There are those people who always have to be at war with the boss. And there are people who lose their mind once they are “put in charge” of something. Saw both cases pretty frequently in a previous life.

Pretty much how Breezy answered your interrogatory.

FFS, though, you are just trying to rock the NF, at least ditch the hat too.

The ATL 330 bubbas aren’t going to be happy about this… ATL-LOS going to the 350 in Oct.

At least ATL guys won’t have far to go. Also you get paid 5.15 now to do it. Don’t forget union representation. That’ll be a 10.30 day of cost to the company.
It’s going to be hard to enforce uniform standards when nobody really knows what the correct uniform is anymore.

Which uniform? Abbots? HPI? Crew outfitters? GAP? Double breasted with two buttons buttoned? Double breasted with 3? 100 year tie? Delta Widget tie? Black tie? Pink Tie? Christmas Tie?

it’s pretty easy to enforce things like wearing black sneakers or vans, not wearing a tie, not wearing a hat, etc. (i’ve seen all of the above).

why we make it so hard on ourselves is beyond me. just wear the uniform with the best compliance to the fom you can muster. common sense exceptions like a lost item apply, obviously. this job is so ****ing easy and a few people make it so hard for no reason. it’s like they’re caged animals pacing just to feel something

That's bizarre. I generally feel like 99% of Delta pilots I see are in uniform and look as sharp, or sharper, than most other airlines. Even those of us who don't wear the company provided pants. I also think 95% plus wear their hats most of the time. Why would they get a hard on for this?

Clearly egregious offenders need to be dealt with, but it’s an odd choice to choose uniform compliance to focus on at this point in time. Recently Delta has spent years and tens of millions of dollars on uniform refreshers for FA’s, pilots, gate/ticketing agents and ground personnel. They have completely botched every one of them. If there are problems with uniform compliance, it might be time for management to look inward. It’s bad form to put management incompetence on public display and then choose to punish the employees.

i doubt they’re going to be hassling anyone for wearing the uniform in good faith despite the missteps of management. if anything, it’s probably an overheard discussion about intentional and flagrant disregard for the standards.

but that doesn’t rile up the masses as much as thinking they’re going to be nitpicking your pants brand.

It's never closed because pay is now an ongoing negotiation between the individual and the pay specialists. If you are satisfied with the numbers and the month ends you will get paid time card numbers. If unsatisfied, a pilot assist case number stops the clock and an STS get ALPA involved in the negotiation. There is no "right number" anymore. Like everything in the modern age, it's up for debate and the presentation of alternate facts.
