They then had a picture of an RJ crew standing in front of their plane. How dare they rub that in my face when I'm in a good mood at the start of a trip. That's not good news for Delta, certainly not Delta Pilots.

You assume Deltanet is about Delta Air Lines, the company. It's about Delta Air Lines, the ticket brokerage.

My opinion isn't worth much, but here it is. I highly doubt the company will offer any leaves greater then 1 year. They won't even offer us early retirements that they're offering the rest of the airline employees. If one thinks they have better opportunities over seas, one will likely be required to resign. You won't be able to keep your number at DAL. And I don't see us getting restoration. Maybe SWA rates max, but that's it. Anything else will likely be a loooong fight. I thought we had a better chance, but Unicals failure to go anywhere and AA filing BK extinguished my hopes. Add to it GK is looking for lower labor costs at SWA, & the chances of a restoration contract are fading.

Point being, if you're considering an ex pat job but waiting until this contract is complete to decide, you may cost yourself several years of pay and seniority at the ex pat job. This contract may take a while.

It sure seems to be headed that way alright. What a shame that they would ignorantly post that in such a positive light when they have to know at minimum 12,000 of their employees would see it and get ****ed off. Can I use that word here?

Do not let that extinguish your hopes! Erase the problems of other carriers form the equation. They are not our problem. We made $1 bil. each year the last two years and in this economy. They can afford our restoration and they will still have profit left over. We are negotiating for an agreement with Delta Air Lines not the rest of the airline industry.

Absolutely agree. I am tired of subsidizing the traveling public's fuel costs from my own pocket.

If only everyone had this attitude we will change our industry for good. Let's stand up and fight for once. Enough running for kneepds and lube when contract talks come across the corner!

I agree. Anyone that is looking at Expat jobs knows that many of the require a copy of your resignation letter from your previous employer. They will probably mail one in as well. That is just industry standard.

You maybe right. This contract could take a while, if we stand by our demands. How long to wait before leaving is a big question for me.

This is what they have conditioned us to accept. It is up to us to change that. It's also up to us to change the public's perception of what an airline ticket should cost. Doesn't it make you mad when someone you know complains about how expensive that $199 ticket across the country cost them. Are you kidding me? Before regulation airlines were insured to make 12% profit at 50% load factors. How much would that ticket be today adjusted for inflation? Has oil increased since then? Have other operating costs increased since then? I can't think of any other services that have lowered their fee to the public since 1978 except ours.

We need a song for this new AE.

I propose, a takeoff of "I Sang Dixie" sung by B-U-double-Z. Hit it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2laJLyGSnJM

I sang Dixie, as L.A. died
But people just walked on by, as I cried
The AEs had robbed us, of all our narrowbody pride
So I sang Dixie, as L.A. died

I said way down yonder in the land of cotton (ATL), old times there ain't near as rotten
As they are in this damned old L.A.X.
Narrowbodies drew a dying breath, and I laid the AE against my chest
Please Lord, take this soul back to Dixie

And I sang Dixie, as mainline died
But people just walked on by, as I cried
The JV had robbed us, of all our widebody pride
So I sang Dixie, as mainline died

I say listen to me son while you still can, run to a left seat in Thailand,
Don't you see, what life here has done to me
They closed all those big seats, and I fell to the elongated nine,
No more pain, and now I'm temporarily safe back home in Dixie

And I sang Dixie, as mainline died
But people just walked on by, as I cried
Our weak scope had robbed us, of all our pride
So I sang Dixie as mainline died.

.
