That is very bad news if true. If the 600-700 number people keep floating ends up being correct, I still can't see why we would be near term planning on such anemic hiring numbers. Fooling Wall Street makes no sense. They could care less about a couple hundred first year pilots in a 12000 pilot airline. That wouldn't even register on the stock price. This smells more and more like we're being played but why? Another TA sales job but with no TA.

Did that info come from the hiring manager? Did they give an update on projected/approved hiring numbers for the year? What are they telling those who recently interviewed? Sounds like interview invites are still going out...

It looks like 300 would result in almost no street hires getting a class until the flows stop. If that were in September and classes continued at say 30/month total (20 ots/10 endeavor)... It would take a very long time to get to 170 deep in the pool.
However, if this were remotely the forecast the current pace of interviews would not make much sense.

I was told by my ATL Capt. Rep, if we vote Yes on C2012, the hiring will start in fall of 2012, and we'll never see the 3% raises, because we'll be back in contract negotiations for the next merger by March of 2013....
So, how's that working out for you now?
Don't forget about giving up 33% of your profit sharing for that 3% raise.

It worked so well last time, why not play it again?

Do the math on how much lower your profit sharing check is, too. Yikes!
