I spent a decade at regionals, I'm not saying forget how to be proactive, I'm saying imagine going to work and being able to turn it down to a 1 and the wheels don't fall off the bus.
I had a hard time getting on board with the original post saying (in essence) “keep it dumb.” Do your job and let others do theirs.
I understand what you’re saying. I’m a big believer of only doing your job. If guys did that at the regionals maybe the company would fix the things that need fixing. The guys that kept it at 1 at the regionals do a good job of keeping it at 1 at the majors the ones that didn't make things tough at the majors.

I forgot all about that guy, can’t recall the handle but he wasn’t bad either. Not a troll, but someone who has been radio silent a while is GuardPolice. I actually wouldn’t mind his opinion on the recent happenings.

Question

Why would it not apply to new hires?

It would apply to new hires, it would not apply to those hired after the signing of the agreement.

I want to add a few points to this discussion.

Let’s not forget that technically Delta is required to fill 35% of new hires with DCI ALPA carriers and right now Endeavor is the only one that fits the bill on that.

DGI

I think the DGI will stay and still be used in conjunction with this flow, at least for however long this flow lasts. It will keep the time way down and will also help keep that minimum number of ALPA pilots required plus it can be modified to anything Delta/Endeavor wants it to be. It may not be the 180/year number it is now but like I say, it would make sense to continue the DGI even if it only sends 5-10 pilots a month.

Flow

I hate to say this, but honestly, Delta is just using you guys to get these 35 airplanes flying for the Summer. They aren’t stupid and know they stand a good chance at losing arbitration, but there may be a small chance they win. Even if they lose, they still will get to use these 35 airplanes for the busiest travel months this summer while we are extremely short staffed at mainline because management decided to play hard ball with the pilots instead of keeping the operation staffed. In their eyes, they are winning and get what they want in either scenario. Then if they lose arbitration, the flow becomes invalid and back to the old way of just the DGI and I really don't think there is a chance of a flow happening after that.

There aren't 35 planes sitting around, they are already gone, they have to buy 35 new aircraft.(almost certainly 35 E175s for RAH) Those aircraft would not come online for at least 6 months.

Speaking for Republic only, Delta let the CPA expire for 19 (I think) E170s as part of the 35 tail reduction so they’re being converted to 65-seaters to fly for AA.
