Ya gotta love the way management has successfully split this pilot group, and at the same time be sad that the ASA guys are falling for it. "Iron fist to the XJT side"? Are you f'ing kiddin me? The brass these guys display at the thrill of ERJ guys losing block hours is sickening. It not only shows this pilot group will never be successful once merged but the company will continue to spilt it's enemies.

In the end it wont matter. The 'poor silly souls' on the ERJ side will bolt once the doors to the Majors open up, leaving the new ExpressJet on the continued downward spiral. Have fun with that!

No one here is thrilled with the ERJ side losing block hours or is gloating like the pmXJT guys were when it looked like we were going to lose planes. These posts are warnings based on our experience with how SGU operates. You're quite welcome to try a strategery that has failed in the past, but it won't likely work out well in the end. Just helpful advice.

Here is the thing! This merger is costing Jerry a crap ton of money and he won't be watching this circus go on much longer and will start making some changes soon!

My guess is that it is ucal that has made a decision to drop block hours. Skywest inc, gets paid by having the most hours they can. It's probably nothing to do with we like u better.

First off - Anyone who was gloating at the CRJ side losing flying is a POS! It is never good to see guys lose flying, let alone guys you are going to merge with.

Second - Please explain what "strategy" they have used before? If it is a "We need to be cost competitive" quote and thinking that the pilots are dragging down this company, well, I don't know what else to say. This is a cycle management uses all the time and lets say we do take paycuts, next round of contracts they'll be asking for more, then the next round more, and more and more - the downward cycle continues. Management never comes at guys saying "Sure, I can see you guys need a raise - let's do it!". They have successfully implemented a "We are all family" propaganda. Management thinks every working drone should be making $35,000 a year regardless of which position they hold.

For me, saying I want a small raise will NOT destroy this company, regardless of how many lectures I get from anyone in management or in the pilot group. We can get a decent contract and help the company maintain profitability - it CAN be done. It is not a 'one or the other' type thing. Don't ever use pay or work rules as a carrot to open new bases or obtain new flying. Don't EVER believe that this contract/merger will sink this company. It won't.

And lastly, don't fall for the ERJ/CRJ fight. This is a mirage. Management uses this "strategy" to cause unrest and confusion in our work group. All of the CRJ guys I've met and talked to, ALL of them are nice people. We can band together and get a decent contract. Don't buy into the BS - The worst thing for management is a unified, focused pilot group!

No he won't. He knew exactly what he was buying. This is the BS I am talking about.

The "HAMMER" was the company discussing Furloughs of our guys and simply "move some of them over" to the ASA side. What the company failed to realize was they can't just furlough without offering COLAS and RFLs etc..... I think once we reminded them of this they changed their mind.

XJT flys 870,000 block hrs, losing 34,000 is not the end of the world. The CRJ is in a good position because they fly the larger dual class airplanes, the 50 seat model is shrinking, and will shrink more in the future (IMO).

The ASA MEC has not been gloating to our MEC at all, they know how ****ty the deal is, because it was done to them not too long ago

These numbers. Where are they sourced from?
