Gosh we've come full circle back to this argument. I can't wait for that same person to come back on here and say that "the XJT MEC had the agreement in place, but didn't execute it, so it was never an official MOU..."

Nevets and HOU757 are correct. Here's how the process went: In Fall 2010, right before ASA began hiring again, ASA offered XJT furloughees to resume work at ASA with the option to return to XJT at their original XJT seniority at some point in the future. When ASA had a furlough scare in 2011, an agreement was made to allow ASA pilots to transfer to the ERJ at the bottom of the list, but kept their longevity for pay etc. So yes, there were MOUs covering this scenario and it went both ways.

As a fellow furlough, I can tell you ASA ALPA paid my COBRA premiums from the assessment levied on the entire pilot group. It was put to a vote and the furlough fund assessment barely passed with less than 300 members taking the time to vote. Every independent group that tried to do something similar failed due to the difficulties of setting up a legal trust to receive and distribute funds.

Your other views not withstanding, our union did provide COBRA assistance if we needed it. While I am happy another individual provided for you, the ASA COBRA fund was more than adequate to the point that refund checks were eventually issued. Please take time to consider before you use false information to disparage your pilot group again.

We can not have any JCBA which includes either side getting something different from the other side. That will do nothing but continue to cultivate an "us vs. them" mentality on both sides, ultimately destroying any bargaining capability we collectively might have in the future. Like it or not, a JCBA is better for most of the 4200ish pilots that currently make up ExpressJet.

I don't see PBS as a sticking point, we just get a JCBA that has SmartPref PBS if you fly an ERJ and Flightline for the CRJ?

However, how do you solve ERJ guys getting a pay cut like in the JCBA that was voted down while the CRJ guys getting a raise? That sort of thing just wont cut it.

(and if you lose up to 6% [DC Plan] of your pay that goes in to your retirement like ERJ guys were going to lose that is most certainly a PAY cut even if you want to call it a benefit cut.)

Where do you get this stuff? That is 100% FALSE, did you read this somewhere? If so, your MEC is lying to you.

You can't have both SmaftPref and Flightline on property since the work rules don't work the same with both. Realistically, for unity, it has to be the same, which means one or the other.

I agree about the DC plan, but nobody has it anymore, so is it worth fighting for, and potentially going to arbitration over, especially if we get some improvements elsewhere. I would love to get a DC plan, but I don't think it will happen, so at what point do we negotiate something in exchange? Maybe even a buy out for those in it.

I can't speak on the pay disparity because I don't know the specifics of the ERJ side. I don't think any regular pilot on either side should take a pay cut, but that's a broad brush approach to a complicated topic.

Not sure what you mean. Unless something changed Erj side still gets the DC plan so up to 6% pay deposited in retirement account (which was being taken away in the JCBA) plus the match which is up to another 6% in your 401k ... or up to 12% in total.

As regards Smartpref vs Flightline, neither side want to make concessions, just write rules for both and put it in a Jcba - if you bid over from Crj to Erj just know you'll be using smartPref and vice versa

I think he was speaking of other regionals when he said nobody has it anymore. Personally I would love a DC plan. As somebody said a few posts ago if a JCBA comes out it better be the same for everybody. No ERJ this or CRJ that.

Nobody else has a DC plan. Sorry. Thought that was self explanatory. We are probably not going to get a 'benefit' of effectively 12% in retirement for the ASA side, and no other regional has it except LXJT, AND we have to be the same when it's all said and done. What is your realistic suggestion?

The difference in SmartPref and Fligyline is significant enough that it still essentially creates two separate companies. It won't work long term. I managed people for 20 years before coming here. It will breed contempt, which will make us all weaker as a group.

I want the best we can get, but I also want to leave this place as the best regional around when I eventually go to mainline.
