Quite the opposite is the truth.
Leverage this to your collective advantage. Just as management leverages your fear.

+1. Read thoroughly, and I can't agree more.... We are a totally disposable component and this opens the door to growth, employment opportunities, and a much bigger PSA. Or it will be eagle, Mesa, or RAH. The whipsaw isn't a movement it's an unfortunate industry called...the regionals. There's no hope. Get over it. I'm interested in hearing everyone's opinion, and am just stunned a post like this is on here and he's not a) tolling and b) he's providing his seasoned opinion. Unlike most of you on here. Wait till Meyers sees this, hahaha.
On a separate note after the trolls on here burn me for +1ing this post, when the heck are we going to upgrade? I'm getting emails about classes starting of 16, 20 people... Yet it's been 8 months. Regardless of this TA I would think we need a class soon of 8-10 ??

So was he lying to us then or lying to us now?

Sure, go ahead and vote no. I've been in your place. Back then with no message boards it wasn’t so easy shoot off your mouth anonymously. However, management will do what they want regardless of the chest beating and ranting. Vote no, they go to a contractor. Been there for organizing at other carriers that got shut down or, liquidated after a big vote like this. If management believes it will cost them too much to have PSA operate airplanes they’ll move the offer till they get the deal they want. Then they re-evaluate the situation and if AE or PSA don’t fit into the equation they get sold off piecemeal or reduced in size (just another asset) and held in reserve for the next whipsaw. You guys are nothing but a remove and replace component. It took me about 20 years to get that through my thick skull. Just bear in mind (from what I’ve heard) the deal was designed to induce a flow through to mainline and I’d think you guys would want that. Read the document thoroughly and make up your own mind it’s your career and paycheck! Don’t listen to me or any of the weenies that have to resort insults to make a point.
I hope you don't take my post as an attack. I respect your opinion and and want to respectfully give mine so we can all work together to help each other out!I'm curious to know what about the contract you like. Someone mentioned the fact that you will have a flow through to a major and I hope the point is made that there is no flow through. It's just an interview. The two are very different.
I would hope, however, that the reasons for voting "no" have been very well made because it seems to me that the best way to improve your paycheck and quality of life is to say no to this contract.
The other great thing is that if everyone votes no then we can improve paychecks and quality of life for pilots at all the regionals! It's an idea and movement that requires everyone to be on board, however. If Eagle says we won't take a concession and then PSA says we won't take a concession (I hope the point has been made that this is a concession with the pay freezes and no flow through), then Mesa says we won't take a concession, and on an on, then we can send a message to management at all airlines. We can send a very powerful and positive message.
Would you agree that you and your fellow PSA coworkers deserve better pay and work rules? If you are worried about the future of your company, look at the financial situation of the US Airways Group. "So if you adjust for that and look at the pre-tax number and look at pretax, excluding special items, what you will see is we had a record $409 million pretax profit for the quarter. We're extremely pleased with that." That is a quote from the 2013 Q2 conference call. You deserve to get a portion of that income. We should be getting raises! The airlines are making money right now. Lots of it. SkyWest Inc reported a profit of 20 million in the last quarter. I will NOT take any sort of concession and I would hope you feel the same. It's a slap in the face of all of us that we don't compensated when our hard work is rewarded with asking to give up more money. You deserve better than that. We all do.
No pilot group will undercut your pay and work rules to get your flying if everyone stands firm and votes no to a contract like the one you are voting on right now. We need everyone to do it. What about this idea to improve our QOL and wages do you not like? Do you not see how this could be a good thing? It's great to see how we can all help each other! If I get offered a concessionary contract like the one you are voting on now, I will be the first one in line to say "no" I will not work for less money just to get flying that was supposed to go to PSA. I know the 3885 pilots on the whipsaw facebook page would do the same and it gives me hope! Lets make it 3886 or 4000 or 6000!
If you are still unsure, I ask you to watch the video:
https://www.facebook.com/video/embed...51825060027518
In the video you will hear exactly how management takes the flying from Eagle (because they said no to taking a paycut and degraded QOL) and now offer it to you with a paycut and degraded QOL. Everyone say no so that management can't keep doing this! They have the money to pay us better. Lets force them to do so!
I look forward to calm, rational and reasoned responses

I agree completely that the reasoned conversations to spread ideas and information on a forum like this gets lost thanks to those who insult, mock, attack, etc. I'm sure we will never fully get away from that sort of behavior because so many posters on here can't get away from it. Maybe it's how they get their "fix"

We hate to see the mud slinging and name calling but there are always those who will react this way when they feel they are not being heard. I can't censor all of the comments on the FB page but some have been removed for just that reason. While it is painful to see people vote yes out of fear, it is understandable as many of us have been faced with that difficult decision. Just know that thousands of us have done the right thing or will do the right thing and stand up to protect our pay and work rules as well as our brothers and sisters at other regionals.
While we would be disappointed to see this get passed, we won't condone blocking jumpseats and such in retaliation for undercutting your own contract and many in your industry.

Nephew at Eagle was given this by one of their union volunteers, he then sent it to me:
Fellow ALPA PSA Pilots,
I am writing to each of you as a member of the American eagle MEC and the Chairman for Council 83 in DFW. Your MEC representatives have just completed debating and voting on a contract proposal that would significantly degrade both your quality of life as well as harm you financially. The american eagle MEC is familiar with the proposal as it is essentially the same proposal peddled to us.
Like you, we also had national officers and an alpa attorney urging us to accept the deal or the airplanes would be given to another company. I understand what your MEC members went through.
USAirways management has fastened themselves rather securly to the Pinacle model as the monicom of of what a pilot group should look like. They have done so without being either willing or able to articulate any logical reason for doing so. I suspect they are using the lure of larger aircraft for one last desparate grab before reality sets in.
I mentioned earlier the negative ramifications of this proposal for each of you at PSA. What I respectfully request that each of you consider are the industry wide ramifications of a yes vote. A yes vote for this proposal will not only harm your workplace but will harm american eagle, express jet, ASA, Skywest and many others.
The American Eagle MEC took a stand with a resounding no. We made a clear statement that the american eagle MEC would not be a party to or assist misguided and short sighted management with the degredation of american eagle careers or the careers of any other alpa brothers and sisters. We did this in contravention to our own MEC leadership and the urgings of alpa national officers and attorneys.
I ask that when you vote that you make the same clear and resounding response. Vote no. Stand with us and we will stand with you.
Respectfully
Val Jester

All regionals are already having trouble hiring; so you're not disposable... Far from it, you are now a valuable commodity... But they don't want you to know that.
Opens the door for career improvement.... You mean jobs at every mainline company that are on the verge of gigantic mass retirements; so there will be plenty of jobs without even having to get flow thru programs.
They need you more than you need them; but they're afraid to let you know that.
Growth? Read that TA... No guarantee of growth; it's far more likely replacement aircraft... Look at how many years they have to even give you just 1 plane.
Check your concessions on your healthcare while you're at it.
RAH has been without a contract in section six for years. They are refusing to accept a crappy concessionary contract. Eagle, still in bankruptcy, is refusing to accept concessions for more planes. Do the right thing and join the party of regional pilots finally fed up enough to day NO; even when their national union is working for the company to say yes.
The industry dynamics have changed. They can't fill your seats anymore like they could before. The advantage is yours for the first time in decades.
Don't waste it.

Can someone clarify:
I've been trying to find an answer in this TA but can't- if this passes, unlike now where we can apply as a regular pilot, the ONLY way to get to mainline is to interview in seniority order? Aka a pilot decides to apply to mainline. There's no way he could get an interview as a normal applicant? Or we are all locked in to waiting our turn.
Thanks

This TA doesn't even guarantee growth correct? What are you all voting yes for then? Fear? The company will be willing to tell you anything in order to produce a yes vote. Why don't you all look at the state of the industry and realize that there is a huge shortage coming to the regionals. By voting yes to this contract, you're screwing the rest of the industry and future pilots.

So, if somebody applies and bypasses more senior PSA guys who were waiting for their interview... Will the more senior guy be able to sue saying they violated the interview program by bypassing seniority?
It only took the APA and ALPA 13 years to resolve their flow program...
Go ahead, don't learn from the mistakes of others.
Your company is crazy profitable; you should be getting raises, not concessions. If you can't get a raise when they're profitable... Then when will you ever?
Good grief, stop buying into management BS.
