I haven't looked, but I doubt if there are many flights running from IAD or BWI to DCA. I live in the area and they all serve roughly the same area. DCA is my closest airport and if I flew in or out of BWI or IAD, I wouldn't think of trying to catch another flight to DCA. Once at any of those airports, you look to ground transportation. If you are commuting to DCA, plan on trying to fly into DCA. You could find ground transportation from the other two, but it would be painful.

Agreed, but after living in this area for a while, finishing a commute from IAD/BWI to DCA via ground transportation would be a major pain. I think if I had to commute to DCA, I would rather fly into ORD or some other hub that had a direct to DCA than fly into IAD/BWI and count on ground transportation.

Can someone clarify the commuter hotels? We didn't get a straight answer in training.
If you're on reserve for the next 5 days waiting for an assignment and you decide to use a hotels which came out to $250(limit per month) instead of a crashpad, does company cover that or do you have to actually be assigned some sort of duty while on reserve so you will qualify for the hotel commuter allowance? In other words, can one just use hotels and sit happy because you're not paying for it at the end of the day?
Thanks in advance.

If you are in base for any sort of company business (training, meeting, reserve, trips, whatever) you can use the hotels.
Reserve is duty.
The CPs are very accomidating with this policy. If, for instance, you want to come to base 2 days before because of bad weather either at your base or at your home and you don't want to get stuck, just give them a call and they will approve it.

In a few years the Metro will go all the way to IAD.

Stupid question...just about to hit the submit button on my application in the next couple days. (Got my referral already, thanks.
)
I do realize that DCA was just announced...but do you think that once all the CRJs get transferred over that there will be an increased PSA presence in ORD? As in a likely future pilot base? Just curious...

How long of a drive is that? 3, 4, 5 hours may be worth the super seniority and access to the SAP quicker. I drove 4.5 once upon a time. No better feeling then walking to your car 15 minutes after block in.
