Now, im on par for 4 separate vacations of a week at a time and I havent used 1 single day of actual vacation yet. Its commonly referred to around the company as a "SAP-cation"

Now, its not without its issues, and there are some beefs with the company regarding the application of it, but still, it has been ENORMOUS for my QOL. I picked PSA, largely due to the SAP and it has paid off HUGE dividends..
So when SAP goes away, where will you go next?

After logging into FLICA go to the bottom left of the page. 2nd to last link is a tutorials link. It will show you how to do everything.

Cool, thanks. Somehow I overlooked that, but I'll give it a shot tonight.

Huge thanks for the details! I don't pretend to understand the ins and outs but that's a great deal more than I did know.

PSA is pretty high on my short list, but there are still some questions that I don't have an answer to, some I'd put some weight to and some just gee-whiz info.
- Is it an industry standard for the reserve situation? I would commute to anywhere I worked so I'm not sure it holds the most weight? (For instance; what's call out time? How many days in a reserve period? Etc.)
- What is "minimum day pay" on reserve?
- Everyone is advertising a sign on bonus: PSA references theirs after an "employment agreement." What are the specifics?
- How does PSA compare with "premium" pay? (I see that phrase with some but not all airlines, and not even sure what it means.)
- One that probably translates to any airline, but what in the world is duty rig and trip rig?

If there's an "airline 101" I can find somewhere, I'm happy to feed myself on these questions.

Cheers.

Reserve call out is 2 hours for short call in CLT, CVG, DAY, and DCA. In TYS it is only 1 hour. Long call reserve is 12 hour call out in all bases.

As far as how many days of reserve you get in a row, you can move reserve days around. So you could have as many as 6 days in a row. I believe the average without moving any is 5 days in a row. Reserve pay is I believe 3.75 hours a day. If you sit hot reserve you get paid 4 hours or what you actually flew, whichever is greater. Minimum pay does not apply to reserve days. You get paid for what you fly on reserve. But normally min day pay is 3.5 hours.

-Min guarantee is 75 hours with 11 days off. Don't expect more than 11 off on reserve. On reserve, you are the field slave of the master (i.e., the scheduling department). Expect them to abuse you. You are expected to take it with a smile. Plan accordingly.
-Two years. First year, you pay it all back if you leave. Second year is pro-rated.
-Premium pay can be had if you pick up trips on your day off.

In the end, it's a regional.

Other people might provide a better explanation.

Reserve sucks at most all airlines. That is why we have people bidding CVGor DAY until they can hold a line in CLT. But, now we have DCA, which is very commutable for many people, and has a really short reserve time.

You can get 12 days off on reserve if you bid it right and get lucky in the blend.

Once you hold a line, sap to 65 and then pick up extra trips later. You get premium pay for anything that you pick up. So, you can still get 14 days a month off, get premium pay for a 4 day trip, and credit 85+ hours in a month.
