my buddy flew with a captain that missed his DH on a premium trip. Scheduling had him “self deviate” and he took the jumpseat on the next flight. Got his 8 hours of rest behind the door and was “legal”. He flew a 3 leg day the next day. I’ve had a similar situation where scheduling asked me to “self deviate” due to missing DH.. they were surprised I said no, they dropped the trip with straight pay but only after talking to the duty pilot. Scheduling tried to tell me it would a personal drop without pay at first.Anyways, they tried to get me to bail them out of their poor coverage, nah. I’m not “self deviating” and taking less than min rest. Thanks for the offer though. Clearly not everyone is this intelligible.

2018 was peak delta? From whose perspective? Shareholders were wiped out during covid and only now are above water but TVM bit them in the capital allocation shorts if they held. Customers are still lining up and we have more now and way more revenue. Management has the same industry pedestal and has gained handsomely since 2018. I'm making double what I did 8 years ago. The only metric or perspective you can claim is operational performance and A+ to A- is not the failing you think it is. This doesn't mean I don't think it needs fixing but chicken little is jealous.

Do you dispute that from our perspective, the operation was peak or near-peak in 2018? Heck, even 2015 or 16 had a Profit sharing of 16% (though admittedly, the number of employees does dilute the post-covid PS %, since they hired 20,000 more people). Even management would probably say 2019 was peak.

Every airline I’ve flown at it was a huge no no with ALPA to volunteer for a jumpseat for an actual assigned rotation instead of having the company book you a seat in back per the contract.
The jumpseat exists for commuters, it’s not an extra seat for the company to assign on a full flight.
I thought everyone this? Maybe I’m misreading this.
