expect the company to leak the "good parts" before the MEC votes...standard management play book.

:I had my doubts regarding 717s and AT pilots headed our way. I am not really sure how the logistics would work (sounds like a nightmare). The real question is why would SWA not want those pilots? Aren't they a "family"? Maybe the AT guys aren't wearing enough pieces of flare.:D

Don't you mean cutting off your nose to spider face?

I mean it's just a pet peeve of mine. Kind of like when people say tit-for-tat. That makes no sense, it's tit-for-tit.

So, who will be the first APCer to dig out and share the details.

I am impressed by our Negotiating Committee and Company that they were able to put a deal together this quickly. Even without seeing the results I am comfortable saying "thank you for all of your hard work."

Culture and purity aside (which actually means a lot to SWA), which can only truly come from their new hire process, there is also an economic advantage. SWA will have to train all the 717 guys on the replacement 737's eventually no matter what. If they can offload them to DL, they will get to train properly vetted, coolaid swilling new hires at first year everything. In addition, DL will have to pay full longevity pay and benefits for every plane. The swing on that is worth a lot to SWA, and I wouldn't be suprised if they attempted to make it worth it to DL by sharing some of those savings with DL to get it done and purge their holy list of most of its impurities.

TC

The Thunderbirds also do a "Too Low Show" which is very impressive.

... Or we could walk away and still be in Section 6 negotiations then with no end in sight. The absurdity of saying "anything less than 30% is a NO vote" without any regard for the rest of the TA and considering the time value of money amazes me. To those of you making statements like that - have you considered how big of a raise it will take three or four years from now at the conclusion of prolonged Section 6 negotiations to make up for 3 or 4 years of no raises in the meantime?

Me? I will evaluate any TA in its whole. I have not developed any "lines in the sand." I would love to get back to C2K rates, especially adjusted for inflation, but I will be pragmatic when I evaluate any TA. We should all do the same.

Very well said!!!!!

I will tell you that 22% increase in hourly rate by 2013 will pass muster (58% approval) depending on the rest of the deal.

Agreed. We (and our company) don't live in a vacuum. Look around, the (financial)world is falling down all around us. However, remember, pay comes and goes. Scope and workrules (pretty much) stay forever.
