I would say it's of mild concern, but we're not quaking in our boots just yet. We have agreements in place to convert quite a large number of our 50 seaters to 70 seaters if required. With attrition likely to rise dramatically next year and any phase out of the 50 seaters to take at least a couple of years, I wouldn't expect to see any furloughs as a result.

I would have thought that any new aircraft are likely to be CRJs purely because that's what L-ASA and SKW operate. The 170/175 would certainly be the preference for many of us at L-XJT as we know and like the Embraer product, but as long as they pay me correctly and on time then I don't care what I fly....sadly they can't do that properly at the moment though!

Just a question. I understand about the swap from 50 to 70 seats, however, who's to say the give them to the LXJT side? Was there something about it in the contract that LXJT guys fly them?

I honestly don't know, just wondering what would stop the LASA side from getting them?

Just thinking out loud.

ERJ 50s for CRJ 70s. Have LASA fly them, hire new pilots which would be about the same cost as retraining a LXJT, but are cheaper to use considering first year pay. LXJT starts to shrink, contract FINALLY gets signed and waalllaaa, we have a full merge.

JA's a smart man. He has history with ASA not XJT.

where are the new pilots going to come from? ATP rule is already making it hard to find pilots. In the future the regionals will be the ones with a pilot shortage. not mainline.

I honestly can't answer this question, but I would have thought that it would have to be a straight swap with the L-XJT side. We have a clause that states if any of our flying gets moved to SKW us L-XJT guys go there too keeping our seniority and longevity. I would have thought if the hypothetical new 70s went to L-ASA then there would be one hell of a legal battle with ALPA.

Well the TPA does say they can move 129 a/c (From XJET and ASA) and start a new company.

That should get us onboard in a hurry.

The LXJT folks will get on board one way or the other....It's just a matter of how long it will take them to see the light and how much damage will be done while they act like tough guys....

100% agree. They think they hold the cards, they got bought, Jerry isn't in idiot, they don't play ball...well I'm sure it's not going to be the happy ending they were hoping for.
