Friend is a line pilot at PSA. He says quick upgrade and 4 year flow is over yet I hear differently due to who you talk to in recruiting. Fact check please

Quick upgrade and 4 year flow are long gone. You will have about 400 - 500 FOs ahead of you to upgrade. That's a lot of movement that needs to happen in order for you to have your shot at CA upgrade. We are currently flowing 60 /year with the possibility of flowing almost 100 /year if we can grow more. However we have currently stopped growing because we can barely hire to keep up with attrition at the moment. Part of the problem is that our only easily commutable base (CLT) will mean a long time on reserve for a new hire.

I'm confused.

I've normally known "movement" to be based on growth, attrition, or any combination thereof.

Clearly there is "movement" at PSA? After all, PSA seems to be currently offering the highest bonuses in the industry? So seats need to be filled... yes?

Is that due to growth, or attrition? Or both?

And if it is exclusively due to attrition, yet no movement in CA seats... are more FO's (than CA's) leaving the property, in which need to be filled with new FO's?

And how much is said "highest bonus"? To whom does it get paid?

PSA - $15K first year. $10K second year. $25 per hour. $1.75 per diem.

Republic - $7.5K/$15K/$20K first year depending on airframe and experience. $40 per hour. $1.95 per diem

Endeavor - $23K per year for everyone. $30 per hour. $1.70 per diem. Every hour over 85 is 150%.

My bad, I should have clarified as "one of the highest bonus".....

However, my point still stands (as it does for all the other regionals you mention), there is "movement".... yes?

It could be worse, Regionals could be asking applicants for 10k after a Conditional Offer. (biting my tongue)

Well obviously there is some movement. And I've flown with 2 CAs in the past month who have just been hired by a legacy. So people are leaving. Most of the FOs here I talk with have a short-term exit strategy. Many have apps out at the LCCs and Cargo and have plans in place to attend job fairs etc. I think 2017 will be a bad year for PSA unless they can figure out how to get new hires through the door. So yes, if you come to PSA there will be movement. But that still leaves hundreds ahead of you before you can upgrade. That is A LOT of movement required.

The flow was never 4 years. Well back in 2014 there were a few juniors that got hired. Before the flow was in seniority order. Now flows are spending 10 years at PSA.

If we get 150 aircraft and 1500 pilots the flow needs to be 14 to 19 per month to be effective. If we stay at 1200 pilots we need 11 to 15 per month to be effective. At 5 per month I don't even think new hires factor in the flow when they come here

This needs to be quoted once a week for anyone who is ever thinking about going to PSA. Or any AAG regional.

There's a 10K second year bonus? News to me.

I've heard a rumor that they expect you to pay the 15K back if you leave in the first year, and the second year has a pro-rated pay back schedule as well.
