Hey guys, I'm in the 9/28 CRJ class and had a couple questions regarding base assignments. I live in LA, so obviously I want to get to LAX as soon as possible. People keep saying it will be 6 months, although I feel a little skepticle. With the AA 200's leaving it seems like the base will be shrinking pretty significantly. My best friend was holding a line with pretty good trips, and now he's third from the bottom on reserve. Any rumors of new flying coming to LAX? With that being said, I have no problem commuting if its for a short time (2-3 months). Otherwise, I'll just move to ORD. Also, are moots the pilots getting ORD, or MSP out of training? I am really low on my class seniority. Thanks!

Rumors are rumors till planes show up in the base, make the best decision you can based on what you know right now, not what is speculated to happen

When do you get the CBTs prior to your class start date? I heard we get them ahead of time, just wondering by how much.
Also, can anyone shed light on where some E-175 guys have done their sim training? I hear 'there are sims everywhere' and that just doesn't help me.
Thanks

Good luck CC. I would say your assessment is pretty spot on. Especially with the SAPA part. Most are great guys that just want to do right by the pilot group. But all the good ones without other motives burn out and move on, which is what the company wants. That is why we will never see any real gains as a group. People that are content here are happy. People that want change will bang their head against the SGU wall for a bit, eventually get tired and either quit SAPA or SW.
I recall us going back and forth on the EFB a couple months back, and you were still new enough to think the company would do the right thing and SAPA was just trying to get us a couple more bucks with the reflow.
I'm glad you were able to move on and I hope that all those that want to do the same are able to as well. Good to see that stagnation that has been the regionals for the past 6 years is finally moving and allowing us to get a career worth having.

Since Skywest would be my favourite pick of a regional and since I really want to stay somewhat east coastish, is Chicgo ORD more of a junior base?

Commuting to reserve, as you will be doing, is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, especially if you're doing a hub to hub commute during the jam-packed holiday travel season. That said, all of us would be surprised if the LA domicile doesn't get more flying, given the company's lack of a displacement bid.
Have fun in training and make sure you get your name on the pizza list right away.
Ahhhhh, the pizza list. Memories...

P.S. that damn pizza list! I got put on there three times! Once for not having seen top gun, again for not having (fully) seen airplane, and again for making fun of the instructor...d'oh!
