Interview Calls & Hiring Predictions
#341
I was fortunate enough to get an interview offer extended to me. Upon gathering my documentation for the interview, I have discovered my initial logbook (through receiving my multiengine rating) is not where it is supposed to be. I don't want to say it is lost, as it never has left my home in the last six years, but I fear I may not have it in time for my interview. I have an electronic log that has every flight documented accurately, but I do not have a copy of endorsements or sign offs received. I am in the process if obtaining training records from my university, but my private pilot endorsements will certainly be unrecoverable (flight school closed many moons ago). How screwed am I, honestly? Any suggestions for a quick recreation of information? Again, I have all of the times, by leg.
Thanks. Hoping that book turns up here soon...

Mine took 6 day to come. I was getting worried as we'll, especially after they said I should have it in 24-48 hours. Mine came At around midnight sat night/Sunday morning.

It may not be a deal breaker, but it's not exactly starting off on the right foot either.
Also...I talked to a guy who had a bunch of small log books and he transferred the time to a large book. They asked if it was his original book, and he said "yes" meaning all the times were correct. Problem was he started flying in 1980 and the publish date on the log book was 1986.
They assumed he was being dishonest and did not hire him.
I don't mean to be a downer, and if you have a bunch of flight time it may not matter.

I talked to an interview Captain a few years ago about stuff like this. He said showing up with all the required paperwork was part of the process. They have a lot of candidates, and he said it was amazing how many guys didn't show up with the correct paperwork.

There was another guy in the same room and another lady was getting his stuff and she asked him where one of his items was and he replied that he didn't know he had to bring that. She said that it was on the list of items to bring to the interview and then said "Can't you follow instructions?"
I knew right then that guy had failed the interview.

When I interviewed we were brought into a room where a person grabbed all our stuff from us to give to the interviewers before we actually met with them. I had everything on the list, precisely how they wanted it.
