The maximization of SC is a direct result of BS, RG and others working to squeeze every cent of value out of the PWA, particularly section 23. It’s a permanent paradigm shift. They won’t ever voluntarily return to the previous average of 2-3 SCs per month, even with a reduction in LC time.
Say it louder for the guys in the back. Even though it's 1 hour over guarantee, if it prevents just one GS, no less than 11 SC would be a cost savings. We are very lucky we got the hour pay and the reduction in max SC in the last contract before they started using SCs this way.

The massive amount of SC is more likely a result of 18 hour callout. I bet we would get fewer SC if we went back to 12 hour callouts, I'm down, let's make it happen. I'm guessing some on here are going to disagree.
Yes, some on here disagree. Do you really think they will back off SC if we reduce back to 12? Maybe if they pinky swear. SCC for all (used and unused) at 2 hrs and a max of 3 instead of 6 and I'll listen to the proposal.

Contract 2026, no more than 4 SC a month. Keep the 18hr call out.

Ya, I was being mostly facetious, though 12 hour call out didn't bother me, I get why it's liked. I'm all about decreasing SC and/or drastically increasing the pay for used or unused SC.

This is the way. They will only respond to increase costs. Much like reroute pay, if the deterrent is ineffective they have to pay. This instantly doubles the cost and adds in additional cost for used SCs. They plan better or they pay more. There's a keyhole window they could find that ends up win/win with all thier AI analytics.

6 short calls is fine with me but we shouldn't lose short call credit if they actually use you on short call. That's the double kick in the pants.

Interesting data per BS on skyhub:

Due to increased SC assignments, premium flying has been shifted to reserves by (year over year): 18 pts in Nov, 12 pts in Dec, and 14 pts in Jan even with the snowmageddon IROP.

So, no matter how many SC they "waste," they are saving significantly more money in reduced premium pay.

The company has copied the breakage model from mail in rebates. Pilots have to submit the STS (rebate form) to get the pay. Some won't and others will give up after the initial denial. I'd be curiuos what the real cost is vs the potential cost if all were paid correctly.

Of course they have, and when it takes you auditing each rotation plus your monthly pay there’s bound to be tons of people who just choose not too. That’s my argument about simplifying it so that when the company inevitably plays games it makes it easier for people to catch it. Some thing that’s me giving up and taking the easy way out.

The manual reroute calculations are getting old. For two pilots on the same rotation, they deny one guy's RRPY case but give the other guy several hours of RRPY. This sh!t is ridiculously frustrating.
