There was a time last fall and winter where you could predictably plan on only flying 20 hours or less if that was your goal. Those times are likely gone for the foreseeable future. You will fly on most or all of your available days right now

Here is a realistic snapshot of reserve.

I've been at envoy for almost 10 years. I upgraded two years ago on the E145. I've been on reserve the whole time. I've also have been going down on the reserve list on this aircraft in DFW. The other junior guys got displaced to the E175, which their QOL will be better than mine do to their realitive senority on that aircraft.

Reserve before 117 was, well reserve. The reserve now is horrible and I don't commute that far (I drive). Do to all the dynamics going on I probably won't get off reserve until I "flow" (big if) or I get hired off the street at UAL, DAL, or SWA. Already got an interview for SWA. So if it works out, one more CA seat will open up for a deserving FO.

Reserve as a CA is different as an FO. The FO list moves faster than the CA list.

Fleet type makes a difference right now. Since no FOs can bid across equipment junior 145 line holders in dfw are 2013 hires and in ord 145 is 2015 hires as well as the crj i believe is also 2015 hires. Not sure where the 175 is at being the new fleet type.

The guys going to the 175 as NH s right now have to remember that as we transition to the 175 more and more their place may not improve as some are hoping just due to the amount of senior people that will eventually slide in above them on the equipment.

(The company know that we FOs can't bid which is noticable in the fact the last few opening has been all Vacancies and not a Vac/disp. )

All I'm saying is at my senority on the E145 that is what is going on "real time" I just finished a trip with my FO being with the us for 3 years he is still on reserve. Probably will change now there are some upgrades finally for our guys and gals. I don't know how long reserve is on the CRJ since I don't fly it. I'm assuming the only plane that does have a short stint on reserve is the E175 for right now.

My main point of all of this: Company and Association fix reserve! Whatever happens with the judges decision SEC 12 needs to be addressed. Because once guys know that they are going to suffer on reserve regardless of which equipment your on with out paying fair wages they will go somewhere else, where they can get paid more to suffer on reserve and maybe not have to be on it as long.

Our pilots deserve better than this. We have the best resources out of any regional out there, our flight crews. I trust my family's life on us. It's time we be treated as such; as professionals.

UPDATE FROM YOUR MEC
ORD Crew Room Visit and PUB Event
There will be an ORD crew room visit from 1100-1500 on Monday, August 15th in the ORD crew room. Following that, an ORD Pilot Unity Building (PUB) event will be held that evening. The PUB event will be at D'Agostino’s Pizza at 742 West Higgins Road in Park Ridge, IL from 1800-2000. If you plan on attending, please RSVP here! Food and beverages will be provided at both events.

MEC Meeting Review
The MEC met for a special meeting Friday July 22, 2016. Of note, the MEC would like to congratulate our new Retirement and Insurance Chairman Todd Roehm. Todd was already a volunteer on the Committee and was a natural choice to assume the chairmanship. Thank you for your volunteerism Todd.

The MEC also discussed other general housekeeping matters and received an update from the Negotiating Committee. Much of that conversation was held in executive session, however our negotiators have many ideas, both in theory and on paper, on how to improve this airline and make us competitive moving forward. Your MEC has directed the negotiators to pursue any and all avenues to improve the lives of our pilots. We hope the Company will work with us in earnest to make these improvements sooner than later.

Embraer 145s Return Home
Envoy recently announced the return of some 145s back to Envoy in early 2017. It remains to be seen how this may impact Envoy as Piedmont simultaneously announced additional 145s to their growing jet program. If these aircraft represent temporary growth, or if Envoy remains hull neutral as these aircraft arrive while others leave, AAG’s shuffle of shells amongst carriers will create no value for Envoy or our pilots. Worse, there are indications that Envoy has not adequately prepared for the training bubble this might bring about, further straining aircrews and indeed all employees.

Having a steady supply of new-hire pilots is key, and these staffing challenges are likely to continue unless AAG allows Envoy management to take drastic action. Management may find Chairman Sam Pool and the MEC’s persistence on this matter irritating, but we believe undivided attention and industry leading changes are paramount. Sadly, we continue to witness the inaction of AAG management in the face of what is, without question, a rapidly changing model at the regional airline level. We will continue to remind all levels of management that Envoy is no longer competitive to many new-hires; and for us to attract, recruit, and retain pilots in adequate (and sustained) quantities – drastic changes must be made.

This news is not good for the pilots at Envoy. All of the regional airlines are having troubles filling cockpits. If Envoy only hires 20 pilots every month, this is a serious problem brewing in the future where soon there will not be enough pilots to fly all of the airplanes that Envoy has. If you already are being treated like stray dogs, imagine only what will happen when there are not enough of you to complete the job that they want you to. Big problems soon my friends.

Glad to see you're still quoting yourself. Is it hard to keep track of so many screen names? How many Gmail accounts did you have to create?

Thanks, J, but we all know this. Same song different tune at any regional.
