Because we're not mainline pilots. At least, I'm not one - yet. I'll likely get demonized for saying that, so spare the venom.

Much the way a guy works his way up through the minor leagues, I'm taking my cuts and keep swinging for the fences. Apps are out, networking is being done, and I'll be ready. You guys just have to wait it out...I respect that, but I'm also not holding my breath for 5, 6, 10 years for my spot in line to open up.

For people considering coming here, understand this. You will receive 38.50 your first year, with a 15,000 bonus. Your second year your pay rate will go to 40.28, but you will have no retention bonus, essentially taking a 10,000 pay cut. Oh and the 40.28 pay rate is also for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year rates. Then you upgrade at some point, and you will receive no retention bonus cause it's for CAs at the time of this agreement.

This was a kick in the nuts for 3rd year FOs. Even with the retention bonus new hires will make more, and now 2nd year guys will be at the same pay rate as them.
Gonna quote myself here for the people that still don't get it.

Don't really care either way, but just want to correct your data. 2nd and 3rd FOs will get the $20,000 bonus (over two years) paid quarterly after their one year anniversary. So 2nd and 3rd year pay is 40.28 plus the $2,500 bonus every three months.

The company is banking on high attrition from Captains (which will happen since everyone is hiring) so that upgrades will stay around the two to three year mark and guys will not be forced to see 4th year pay (no bonus).

And to correct your data, the 20,000 is for FOs on property May 1, 2016. Which I don't think any new hires will be. So my data is correct for new hires. And there is no longer 4th year pay. You hit that rate your second year now. So EVERY FO will see their pay cap.

I think this will actually increase FO attrition for the bottom end guys, as this essentially provides nothing for them. If an upgrade is looking 2.5-3 years away and I'm pay capped it sort of forces my hand in going #1- LCC or #2- DEC Captain elsewhere. I would expect to see the FO attrition to pickup come Feb/March. The only thing that might get these Fo's to reconsider would be an increase in flow #'s. At least 8-9 a month would be something. Clearly AA values Envoy more as you see up to 40 month flow for those guys. Its almost looking like a jump to Envoy as a PSA 2nd year FO wouldn't be so much of a lateral move at all.

Looks like 9E is touting ~ 9 month upgrades for previous 121 time guys. This could fuel your argument - Airline Applications.

According to this post you only "transitioned to 121 flying" last year.

Please spare me the lecture.

Thank you. I AGREE. What a bunch of know it alls. Humbleness and kindness goes a long way, not rudeness, shrudness, arrogance.

Just stand united people.

Professionalism as a major airline bound pilot one day should be the vision. When "off duty" online posting, you should remain the same PROFESSIONAL as you would pretend you are in front of your mothers!

Read it again: FOs hired AFTER May 1st AND FOs hired UNDER THIS AGREEMENT will be eligible for $20,000 after their one year anniversary. It's the first sentence of the third bullet point in the union email.
